Insider's Guide to New York Fashion Week


You're in the middle of New York City, you have a half charged iPhone, 6 sweaters on, and 4 shows to catch that all start in a half hour at 4 different venues in 4 different parts of town - what do you do? You stick with us, that's what. We've cleaned up the mess that is this year's #NYFW and are dishing out the scoop on our must-sees. You're welcome.


Wednesday, February 10th

Kickoff fashion week with the VFILES fashion show livestream, 8pm on Wednesday. Their hand-picked new talent features the best of what's up and coming, including wearable tech designer Nayana Malhotra, the genius behind 'neurocouture'. This is one show everyone will be talking about - watch closely and stay in the loop.

Thursday, February 11th

Catch Creatures of Comfort at 2pm. They haven't released their location and no word of a livestream so keep to fast fingers on @creaturesofcomfort and expect chic to the core cuts and muted palettes to flood your feed. Think that-outfit-you-could-wear-every-day-for-a-week type of obsessions.

Rihanna's go-to garment genius, Adam Selman, will be showing at Milk Studios at 6:30pm on Thursday. Chances of sneaking in are slim to none, so stay up to date on all @milkstudios channels to get the first look. One of the most anticipated shows this year, do everything in your power to fool those PR pretties and snag a seat.

Friday, February 12th

Positively antsy over CHROMAT's upcoming showcase of its new and improved structured sex-warriors. Lots of leather, cut outs galore, not-so-subtle bondage details everywhere in sight, a spectacle that will indulge your urge to spank something. Milk Studios at 5pm.

Saturday, February 13th

Historic power-house Lacoste will serve up fashion forward aces, athletic numbers to rock on and off the courts at Spring Studios at 10am. Expect strong color choices and consistent nods to the origin of the brand, and of course that cute little alligator.

Sunday, February 14th

NYC bad boys Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne will showcase Public School's latest collection at 11am at Milk Studios. This pair has redefined the modern man via his closet, adding edge to tailored menswear with sleek textures and rockstar cuts (i.e. every leather jacket they've ever made).

Infamous celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe releases her newest collection of the same name at 12:30pm on Sunday. For someone who wants to truly grasp current trends and what will soon be 'currently trending', this show is one you can't miss. Zoe knows exactly what everyone will be wearing for the next 6 months, partly because of her instinctual genius and partly because she'll be dressing them! Check the livestream on nyfw.com or their 'videos' section an hour or two after, they'll have plenty of coverage.

Cool kids collective Opening Ceremony will be flaunting their newest selection of streetwear at 8pm on Sunday. It's anyone's guess where and how to get in, but if there's one way to find out it's by refreshing @openingceremony every 10 seconds the day of ;)

Monday, February 15th

The legendary Tommy Hilfiger will showcase another highly anticipated extravaganza of classically clad top models at 11am. No word on the venue, so stick with nyfw.com to behold another year of his genius productions.

Karen Walker. Just the name gives me chills and makes me reach for an invisible pair of the chicest shades the world has ever seen. In addition to a new batch of epic sunglasses, we can expect some 5-star looks from this Aussie at her 1pm show on Monday. Check @karenwalker for any last minute details and surprises leading up to the show.

Tuesday, February 16th

The always amazingly astonishing (let's see how alliterative we can get...) Alice + Olivia is set to dazzle us at 2pm on Tuesday with a new collection. Stacey Bendet (the designer/goddess behind A&O) brings uptown funk to the classically feminine and covers the streets in the most fun and fabulous wardrobe. Expect loads of celeb-grams and outfit inspiration for weeks to come. And if you're daring, head to Skylight Clarkson Square to see if you can weasel your way in.

Wednesday, February 17th

Design duo Marchesa will rock the runway again with gorgeous gowns and sensual silhouettes at 5pm at NYFW's The Dock. Their dreamy creations are definitely worth scouring nyfw.com to find the show footage.

Proenza Schouler. 8pm. No hint on location. Mysteries excite us. @proenzaschouler for more details.

Thursday, February 18th

Ralph Lauren is set to fill his runway with classically clad top models at 10am at NYFW's main stage. Expect bold colors and beautiful materials (i.e. deep reds and stunning satin).

At 2pm Calvin Klein, whose recent rebrand has made him the authority on sportswear, brings athletic edge to his collection which shows at Spring Studios. Closing fashion week with a strong new wave vibe will be his goal, success is imminent amongst an a-list crowd.
